Important Role of Parents
“It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.”
Leo F. Buscaglia quotes
(American guru, tireless advocate of the power of love, 1924-1998)

Our experience has taught us that one of the most important resources for children is family; more particularly, the  parents. Parents are significant contributors to the development of their children. They are the primary caretakers, managers, behavior models, disciplinarians, and agents of socialization and change for their children.
It is accepted that parents can be trained as effective teachers of their children. This means that parents must learn how to encourage the optimal growth of their children. Swabodhini recognizes that the parents of special children have an important effect in their children’s development and through counseling, parents can create healthy parent-child interactions, get involved positively in their child's education, and contribute more to the growth of their child.

As a follow up of the school’s activities each parent is taught to identify the potential problems in the child and also given a plan to tackle them. Through this system parents learn to understand the need to adapt the environment, teaching materials and the school curriculum as per their child’s individual needs. Further this aids in creating a vision for the child and also helps the parents to work towards it.

The parents are further taught the principles and skills of behavior management which can bring about specific changes in their child’s behavior. Training sessions are interspersed with warming up exercises, relaxation activities that enable the parents to enjoy the sessions of training. It also provides a platform for parents to share their experiences with one another.

“If you raise your children to feel that they can accomplish any goal or task they decide upon, you will have succeeded as a parent and you will have given your children the greatest of all blessings.”
 Brian Tracy (American television host)
