4th Jan, 2017: Visit by CTS employees

Cognizant as part of their ‘Joy of giving’ week programme support Swabodhini and the cause of educating and training children with autism.

A group of employees from CTS Chennai visited Swabodhini and spent time with our students. The employees and the students had a wonderful time playing games and doing activities together. They also gave a lot of gifts to the students and donated sports items like balls, racquets, bats, stumps etc for the school.

5th and 6th Jan, 2017: AIMS Media Assessment for multimedia course

AIMS Media, New Delhi conducted an online assessment for enrollment into Multimedia course for Pre-vocational and Vocational students (a total of 12 students) on January 5th and 6th between 10:30 AM and 3 PM in 3 batches altogether. The assessment was made online through skype video call conducted by Mr. Kunjan Gautam from Aims Media. We have identified the students who will benefit from this course and the classes are scheduled to start from March 2017.

8th Jan, 2017: The Wipro Chennai Marathon:

The Wipro Chennai Marathon is the biggest running event in Chennai with almost 20,000 runners participating from all over the country. In association with United Way of Chennai, 36 runners had chosen Swabodhini and ran for our cause. Our sincere thanks to all these runners!!

We are very grateful for all those who supported Swabodhini in The Wipro Chennai Marathon.

Dr Dhinesh Jothimani – practicing doctor at Global hospitals chose Swabodhini as his cause to run and raise funds for. He ran a full marathon and spread awareness.

Mr T M karthik (Theater artist ) and Mr Yashwant Vaid (Gurudev Motors) wellwishers of Swabodhini were pacers for the Wipro Chennai Marathon and they ran carrying the Swabodhini badges and stickers and spreading cheer and awareness!

9th Jan, 2017: Kreeda VIII Sports Event:

Kreeda VIII Sports Event for special children was conducted at the Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore, in association with Rotary Inner Wheel Club. Our students participated in the event and won prizes in running race and relay race – Master Gurubaran and Master Hrishan in the junior’s category bagged the second and third place and Master Rudhresh and Master Nikhil bagged second and third place in the senior’s category.

10th Jan, 2017: Thanksgiving day

Every year at Swabodhini, we celebrate Helpers’ Day as Thanksgiving Day. They care for our students tirelessly and with a lot of love and patience. They sometimes become the Godmother to many students.To express our affection and thanks to these wonderful women, Swabodhini dedicates a day to honour them! Interesting games was conducted for all the helpers and winners were given gift vouchers from Swayam Shop. Gifts were given to all the helpers. It was a day full of thankfulness, appreciation and of course, laughter and fun.

12th Jan, 2017: Pongal Celebrations

The school donned a festive garb for Pongal celebrations. Colourful rangolis were put and the classrooms were decorated with Pongal themed charts. The students were dressed in ethnic dress and Pongal was made in the traditional way –under the sun.

The staff and students ushered in Pongal with a lot of joy and festive spirit.

24th Jan, 2017: Birthday donations from Mr Divay Jain

Mr. Divay Jain made a generous contribution of mediation mats, stationary items and imported biscuits for the use of our students to mark his birthday. We thank him for his kindness and wish him a wonderful year ahead and pray for his health and happiness.

28th Jan, 2017: Project Day

Project day for this academic year was conducted on 28th Jan. The event was a grand success, where students displayed their projects, the culinary students prepared refreshments and the teachers organized games for all the parents.

Primary class students made projects about addition and environment. They displayed plants grown and nurtured by the students during the gardening sessions. They also made a story sequence with pictures related to gardening.

Prevocational students did project on rain water harvesting and animal homes. Retail and culinary students prepared bhel puri and channa chaat for all the visitors and had it as a sales counter and also manned it themselves!

After this, some fun games were also conducted for the parents. It was a very memorable day for all at Swabodhini.

31st Jan, 2017: Horticulture Visit

Primary students have gardening as a part of their curriculum and in connection with it, they were taken to Agri Horticulture Society in Gopalapuram. They observed the different varieties of plants and enjoyed being in nature and greenery.
